HDFC Bank Changes Airport Lounge Access Rules from January 10, 2026

HDFC Bank is making a major change to how customers access airport lounges using debit cards. From January 10, 2026, the bank will completely stop physical debit card swipes at airport lounges and move to a voucher-based lounge access system.

This change raises the spending requirement for free lounge access and introduces a structured voucher issuance and validation process.

Minimum Spend Requirement Revised

Earlier, customers were required to spend ₹5,000 on their HDFC Bank debit card to become eligible for complimentary lounge access. Under the new rules, this requirement has been increased.

To qualify for free lounge visits in the following quarter, customers must now spend at least ₹10,000 per calendar quarter on their HDFC Bank debit card.

How the Voucher-Based Lounge Access System Works

Customers who meet the quarterly spending requirement of ₹10,000 will receive an SMS or email within 2 business days containing a link to claim their lounge access voucher. This process will begin from January 10, 2026.

After clicking the link and completing OTP verification, the customer will receive a 12 to 18 digit alphanumeric voucher code or QR code on their registered mobile number and email ID.

This voucher code or QR code must be shown at the lounge entrance to receive complimentary access. Physical debit card swipes will no longer be accepted.

Complimentary Lounge Visits by Debit Card Variant

The number of free lounge visits per quarter depends on the debit card variant held by the customer.

  • Millennia Debit Card: 1 visit per quarter
  • Platinum Debit Card: 2 visits per quarter
  • Business Debit Card: 2 visits per quarter
  • Times Debit Card: 1 visit per quarter
  • GIGA Debit Card: 1 visit per quarter
  • Infiniti Debit Card: Up to 4 visits per quarter with no spending requirement

Voucher Validity Period

Lounge vouchers are valid from the date of issuance until the end of the next calendar quarter.

For example, a voucher issued on January 10, 2026 will remain valid until June 30, 2026.

If a customer does not receive the voucher or misplaces it, they can request a reissue by visiting www.gvhelpdesk.com, using the chatbot, and completing OTP authentication.

What This Change Means for Customers in 2026

HDFC Bank’s shift to a voucher-based system brings clearer eligibility rules and wider lounge coverage, but it also increases the spending requirement and removes instant card swipe access.

Customers planning frequent air travel in 2026 should track their quarterly debit card spends and ensure vouchers are claimed in advance to avoid last-minute issues at airport lounges.
